I adored that little shot of emotional maturity from Steven. They've done an absolutely tremendous job of changing from the guileless innocent of the start of the series to a thoughtful, compassionate character who's completely in tune with the wants and needs of those around him in a meaningful, subtle way.
It would

That was wonderful!

Man, Marty's a dirtbag.

"Die die die DIE"

She kinda does! Her and Steven make fart noises when the stereotypical Jerseyite shouts at them.

Like the Odd Couple… if one of the two had been complicit in the imprisonment and implied torture of the other!
This dynamic has so much potential, not least because Peridot's made herself so indispensible to the show at large, and a reminder of some of the heinous shit she did before she defected wouldn't necessarily

Sweet!

That's an interesting take, actually! I'm not sure about the mechanics of it all, but it does make thematic sense. Nice one!
I've started nursing a more prosaic take, with Steven accidentally rescuing her and earning himself a life debt from her, but I'm sure it'll be more complex than that.

It had that horrifying, "OH HOLY FUCK I FEEL UNCLEAN" tone in common with it, at least.

Reaching out and making friends with people who've been merged together into horrifying, mind-breaking abominations, rather than fighting and killing them? There's more than a little Undertale in here.

That was an absolute knock-out of a line- the obvious hypocrisy of it works on so many different levels, none of which diminish the character at all.
Peridot has spent the last six months being the show's secret weapon, and she COMPLETELY stole it tonight.

I think uber-powerful Steven can work in the same way that the best portrayals of Superman work- potentially earth-shattering power, yoked to a strong sense of right and wrong and a winning attitude. Steven certainly seemed more powerful tonight than he ever has before, and I could see some really interesting and

As much as I want to see Jasperdemption (Steven just made friends with a horrendous eldritch abomination deep within the Earth, I REFUSE to believe that he can't make friends with Jasper), it would be fucking HILARIOUS if we never saw her again. She just slid into the Earth, and that was that.

Steven and Peridot in the drill was SO sweet.

This feels like a bit of a fudge to me. Matt Burnett came out on Twitter today and said that Cartoon Network has started classifying SU seasons as 26 episodes long at the start of the second, meaning that the commission up until the end of season 3 that we already knew about would only take us for another 26 episodes.

Daisy is fucking intolerable all season long. She's awful.

My god. We have a new sweetest episode, ladies and gents.

I don't honestly see this show ever permanently killing any of the main players off. The tone's too sunny and optimistic for that.

No brakes on the Peridemption train!
