In my estimation, this is not only the first great episode of "The New Batman Adventures", it's the best one of all. "Over the Edge" is probably preferred for that distinction by more fans. As consistently exciting as that one was, I think it was also a bit hurt by the fact that its ending makes it too reminiscent of

Yeah, that IS weird. Matt Groening refers to it on the commentary as a Porky Pig cartoon, so that's what I was thinking of (I only skimmed the article).

Homer strapped to the machine force-feeding him donuts is one of the most instantly hilarious, bizarre, and unforgettable visuals of this series.

I don't know, I always got a kick out of that Star Trek V tagline. Cheesy, but fun. Unfortunately, I don't think you can even say that much about the movie. And the Generations tagline is a great one…didn't care for the movie, but they sure made it alluring with the tagline. A movie that could live up to it would have

Garbo mentioned in the body AND title of an A.V. Club article! This is a momentous occasion, comrades! Worthy of celebration. Whisky. Ginger ale on the side. And don't be stingy, baby.

One joke that never gets old: Homer being horribly unfunny, to a shocked, unimpressed audience while Bart is the lone nut laughing his ass off.

Yeah, he totally looks like The Penguin up there. That was my first thought when I saw the pic. On a somewhat related note, did you know Bill Murray was once considered for the role of Batman? Can you imagine?

"Facets" has my single favourite performance from Avery Brooks in the whole series. I think he gets a little in over his head when he tries to go for big dramatic/emotional moments. They're not his strong suit as an actor.

I didn't think this was much better than most of the generally mediocre "The New Batman Adventures" episodes and it's definitely nowhere near as sophisticated as the beautifully written, directed, and acted masterpiece "Read My Lips", which is my pick for the pound-for-pound best episode of the whole series.
