I don't like that they stopped grading "Star Trek" episodes. Even with how detailed the reviews are, I still think I get a clearer impression of how much the writer liked or disliked the episode overall from a letter grade (with much less work).

And Christian Bale should have watched that performance and taken notes, because it shows exactly how to do a badass raspy voice without sounding ridiculously fake, irritating, and at times almost incomprehensible.
I've seen him in a few of the movies mentioned here, but the only things I really remember him from are the "Batman: The Animated Series" Harley Quinn episodes in which he played the gangster "Boxy" Bennett. Great voiceover performance.
That's one of the funniest shots I've ever seen in any movie. I think about it all the time without being able to recall what movie it's even from. Doesn't really matter. It's not the context that makes it special. It's just unforgettably funny for how random it is.
You're in for a treat next week. In my estimation, "Whispers" is the first truly great, 'next level shit' episode of the series. The first hint of its potential to take the Star Trek franchise in exciting new directions by going darker and more unconventional than ever before with the storytelling.
Saying "If memory serves correctly, that's a good one" before reviewing a season 4 episode of "The Simpsons" is a running gag, right? Are you just going to say that at the end of every season 4, 5, and 6 episode just to be cute? Like Me First and the Gimme Gimmes announcing before every song they play that "this is a…
I'm surprised by the negativity towards this episode and its depiction of Bane. I thought this was one of the stronger debuts for a villain on the series.
I love that "X-Men" line because it's like Whedon's revenge for his X-Men 2000 script being rejected. He's dead-on about how crappy that third act was with its ridiculous battle in a statue as Magneto's silly, silly 'change-humans-into-mutants' machine threatens the world's leaders.
Troy McClure: It's time to name our five finalists, starting with… Miss Montana!
I believe you meant to say "morally reprehensible"? I haven't heard the expression "morally apprehensible" before.
I love this episode. It's an early favourite. A good example of how well this series can do comedy sometimes. I love when O'Brien suggests that they leave the station and Sisko (who had mostly just been eerily calm and apathetic since becoming infected) loses his shit and screams, "NEVER! GET ME A PHASER! I'll GET RID…
I was disappointed with "The Muppets". I thought it was a little overwritten (the story should have been a lot more streamlined), the new songs were weak (except the awesome "Life's A Happy Song") and the new characters (the humans AND the new muppet) were dull. This was surprising given how endearing Jason Segal and…
If this is the last chance for Steve Carell to get an award for his last season as a regular on "The Office", I really hope he gets it…even if this award isn't as 'meaningful' or 'prestigious' as an Emmy.
This episode was fucking hilarious. A few of the funniest moments were mentioned, but not my favourite, which was Scarface quipping to Poison Ivy, "You're beautiful when you're angry!", provoking her to smack he and Wesker at the same time.
I just noticed that someone further down pointed out the Abbott and Costello vibe from Piglet's knot scene too. Glad I wasn't the only one who appreciated this.
I was disappointed when "Winnie the Pooh" wasn't nominated, but not surprised. Despite what this article says about the Academy becoming more open-minded about animated movies, when it comes to American films, it's still very much about rewarding movies based on reputation, rather than quality.
Yeah, as soon as I see her, I always think, "Hey, it's Will Smith's mom from 'Fresh Prince'!". Looking over her IMDB page, I see she's a bit typecast as a nurse/scientist-type.
I'm happy to see that song mentioned, as it's my favourite song of all time in any genre, but it's crazy to say that this is their only good song or that they're a terrible band.
I wanted to make a similar point. As far as the Dax character goes, my advice is - "just wait". I can't say Terry Farrell's acting improves exponentially between here and the end of the series, but she does improve a little bit, and the character is certainly much better developed in future Dax-centric episodes like…
"Captive Pursuit" was the first DS9 episode I really liked. The first few were too clunky. It wasn't the first 'great' episode (I think "Whispers" deserves that distinction), but it was the first one with a story I thought was solid from start to finish and no characters being really annoying.
