I think Chris Pratt is just Sweding all his favorite childhood films, Be Kind Rewind-style, and we've been assuming that a major studio is behind it all.

Total protonic reversal.

The next beloved celebrity who implodes in a series of horrifying criminal accusations is sure going to have a tough act to follow.

Is this like when they built the one Jurassic Park, but secretly had another one built just in case the first one failed? Franchise-hedging is why those studio execs get the big bucks.

Has anyone ever liked the Oscars?

Wow. This negative content of this book sure is vast. There's so much we can't learn from it.

But it's also not about those things.

That's one of my favorite scenes ever. Just seeing how happy he is watching Dumbo, while the entire world erupts in chaos outside the theater…

Back late, avenge death.

It's a mystery why they didn't—-a mystery that shall remain unsolved.

From endlessly re-watching Yo Gabba Gabba, my three-year-old daughter loves Mothersbaugh, who teaches kids how to draw pictures on every show. While watching the Oscars, my daughter actually saw him in the crowd of people on stage for "Everything is Awesome," and shouted, "There's Mark! Why's Mark there?"

Apparently this was written by noted author Wells Tower, if anyone's interested in that kind of thing.

A really good chef, too, even if Ford's Filling Station in Culver City is apparently closed.

Just a reminder: Young Adult is a brilliant movie, and Theron should have won an Oscar.

I'm definitely basing this on personal knowledge (friends, myself), so it's not too far from bullshit. However, I feel like the people who get really excited about these movies, who truly love them, are the people who are happy to see comic books faithfully adapted to another medium. A huge portion of GOTG was just so

How close?

I agree. I wasn't responding to the idea that the average superhero movie is better than the average Western. I was just noting that GOTG, for example, is no Red River, Stagecoach, or other early Western masterpiece. I think most people who love SH movies love them because of preexisting knowledge of the comic books,

They smell like old people.

Sure, it will probably happen, but I don't think any of the top superhero movies have been up there with the top of Ford, Hawks, Peckinpah, etc. The studio Western brought out the best in a lot of auteurs. For now, I don't think good directors are doing their best stuff within the constraints of the superhero film.

Have you ever stayed at a Best Superhero? Generally not so nice.
