This is unfortunately where I'm leaning at the moment, and I will be super bummed if it's true.

The "fact" that most people think the show is crap? I think plenty about the last few seasons of this show has been shitty, but let's not take our own hyper-analytical-all-shows-are-inherently-flawed-after-two-seasons bubble and apply our tastes onto most watchers of this show.

My favorite comments are the ones that act like they're terrified of admitting they liked parts of an episode, as if the rest of the Dexter commentariat will no longer respect them in any way if they do.

I'm not as hot on the overall season as you are, but I'll join you in actually liking this episode quite a lot so you're not so alone in the rough and tumble world of the comments.

This season of Dexter has sort of oddly reminded me of Death Note, in reference to your first point.

You and I are pretty much on the same page as far as the highlights of the last two seasons go, though I would also throw in Pacey's attempt at repairing his friendship with Dawson that blows up in his face. A nice bit about how friendships sometimes can't ever really be repaired. A downer as far as the rest of the

I would definitely never argue the show ever nailed the balance between slice of life and cliche soap opera, but it did try to play the soap opera stuff as straight as possible. The approach takes a bit of getting used to (and is never perfect) but Dawson's Creek always attempted to play the ridiculous as not really

Thankfully, and I say this with love, most of the AV Club are hyper-literate smartasses who know too much about pop culture, so you would imagine the show would go over pretty well around these parts.

Hell of a lot of spoilers, of course.

Even though I'm a relative newbie to this site, I can't stress how thrilled I am at seeing The AV Club tackle Dawson's Creek, a show that has become sort of forgotten in the last decade because of teen drama that's "done it better."

Sadly, these sort of silly issues always come up whenever a television show starts talking about anything even remotely techie. The way he initially even referred to the IP adress (actually spelling it out as "Internet Protocol Address") actually made me yell at the screen. Who actually says it like that!?

My first thought when they showed the hand was "Oh wow, interesting!" And then it took me a moment to realize "Wait, why the fuck do I care?" Setting up twist-y reveals like that is only effective when everything clicks into place and it's a meaningful reveal. So far that tells me nothing, since everything we've seen

Yeah, on the one hand I think Deb has been the best character this season, yet on the other I feel like those therapy sessions are so jam-packed with exposition on past season that they almost seem designed to help the, apparently, idiot viewers that have only since tuned into the show this and last season.
