Thirded on wanting to see the clip!

Huh
So Frank from 30 Rock and Edgar Winter have a love child. Who knew?

Yeh, I'm sure ZANZIBAR! is from someplace much cooler than Madison.

The Johnny Hammond is pretty fuckin' great. It was the first album on the Kudu imprint, and Carol King's "It's Too Late" is awesome. I'm pretty sure Grover Washington's on that track, too.

They are actually performing in my town tonight (Urbana, IL). I tried like hell the other day to win tickets on the radio, since they are charging a whopping $27 a ticket, but no luck. And usually I win those things. I think since Dan Deacon cancelled a concert this week, it drove everyone into a P-Funk frenzy.

Damn, that was a good dig. I found Rashaan Roland Kirk's "Blacknuss", Johnny Hammond's "Breakout" and Mongo Santamaria's "All Strung Out" last week.

I love Nashville Skyline.

Let's just…
… watch her glow…

Those are balls.

I just sort-of equate the non-Mignola art to a situation with the replacement of an actor who portrays a main character on a TV show, a few seasons in. To me, it's just too jarring, doesn't look like it should look. The art is good, don't get me wrong, but not quite right.

Hey, I, uh, just did a little more research… I guess I've missed more HB stories in the last few years than I thought. I didn't know about the majority of the stories that are in the "Troll Witch and Other Stories" TPB. Probably because some were published in those Dark Horse "Book of the Dead"-type anthologies.

Hellboy
If Mike Mignola had kept handling the art for Hellboy, I would argue pretty fiercely that it could be thrown on that list and stick. Plenty of fantastic opportunities to "dip in and dip out" for an issue and not be lost, and yet the stories always kept getting better, and some of the themes kept getting

Always really liked Astro City. I never kept up with it after the initial run, though (or at least the first for TPBs).

I retroactively feel that Freakazoid entirely ripped off Mike Allred's Madman. But then I never did watch the show much, and it's been so long… am I wrong?

Are we talking about "Riding With Death", ala MST3K? Blow up liquid stuff in the back of a truck figured into the first part of the movie.

Oh, God, that mic-smashing part is what cemented that concert as The Best I Have Ever Been To. I had never (and still haven't) seen another performer with that much raw energy and emotion.

That is pretty fucking cool.

Hey! I picked up "Mama Tried" almost the exact same way.. out of a $2 bin, although it wasn't in the wrong sleeve.

*I'm* thinking of Otis Redding. But that was another plane.

I went to Pitchfork in 2006 and had a blast. The two stages were opposite each other and they didn't have acts at the same time. Hot as hell, sure, but once it cooled down and Ted Leo took the stage, it was darn near perfect.
