I'm still not seeing any reason why this should be bad.  I've been forgetting about Psycho 4 for years now, so I don't think I'll have any problem forgiving any changes this new series would make.

In their defense, the Bond films have never tried to honor tradition.  They've always strived to remain relevant.  Bond movies are more products of their time than they are products of a franchise.

They've actually paid attention to them many times before, but it rarely pays off well.  Star Trek being a notable pre-Internet example.  People bitched and moaned, so they relented and put the show back on, and guess what?  Nobody watched it.
