You're setting up your argument now to call people whiners next week. Just calling it a "backlash" is saying people changed their minds not on merit but on a trend. Don't be intellectually dishonest. What you're aiming at is pretty transparent.

Explain? How so?

According to the Great Bird there is no Space Jesus.

Just making the case that you have no room to complain. And that if someone has a problem with the film then you should have the ability to defend it beyond claiming people who disagree with you are part of some mindless backlash.

His lips are already moving. Most silent movies mouth the dialog before the card with the lines pops up.

One other thing that I noticed that Troi missed out on telling him was that we all have sadistic feelings, but we usually ignore them. I heard something on NPR where they said the difference between a normal person and a person with OCD is that a normal person holds a kitten and considers strangling it for a second

Uhg! The missing sister. There's an episode I might just skip. It only barely passes as sci-fi because LT has an alien specific mental problem, but otherwise its very soapy.

I'm shocked the season two is ranking so low. It's my favorite after 3. Some really unwatchable duds - like Okona and Shades- but tons of really excellent, dark, intense episodes too. Measure of a Man, Q Who, Peak Performance, Contagion, The Royale,. Even Schizoid Man is kind of cool and original.

@avclub-4b287f908bc71183ecd837b69d417c1a:disqus , you sound like a Christian in the US complaining that the atheists are out to get him. People who like that sincerely awful film far out number the people who don't. And if, 15 years after the fact, people are starting to voice dislike of it its not backlash. It's more

I don't like Insurrection, but I like Insurrection better.

There's an Internet backlash against FC? I haven't seen it. I'd love to know where those people hang out.

"I have a friend named Geordi" is what  say right before I do something malicious to a friend or family member.

Same goes for every show after Next Gen.

This episode begins in earnest the worst trend in TNG: making Data dangerous. And Data is the worst character to make dangerous because he's so powerful and so reprogrammable that it's only his insufferable sweetness that makes him trustworthy. Take that away and you just have a mechanism that can take over the ship

You are correct. Warp Speed is definitely on the same level.

I think it was well established at that point that McCoy could manufacture any chemical he wanted in the hypo. They knew what it was already, so it may have been on the dial.

Really? You liked the engine nick blowing the ship up 7 times and then decompressing the shuttle bay as the answer? Meh.

I guess, but not in any way that applies to what happens with Thomas. If that was a love song he would play just for her it would make more sense.

That's true. What was the point of that? It didn't say anything about what Riker has or hasn't accomplished in 10 years. It's just sort of there and then forgotten.

It also leaves the wizard to feed him.
