1. Good point, though it's possible the vehicles they encountered last week were either out of fuel or disabled by an accident, and for once The Walking Dead spared us from exposition.

What other show would have so many "extra" characters lying around for its viewers to be invested in? And yes, they are safe until their arc is up, but to build such beloved "ancillary" characters and convince us they are main characters is not exactly "smoke and mirrors." It's genuinely character development executed

I enjoy the history and I'm really into spy drama. The Americans gets my hopes up a lot in many ways. I also feel like I learn nothing by walking away from a show, so even when I'm struggling to enjoy it, I usually see shows through. A show has to be pretty bad — like The Killing bad — for me to stop watching. And let

Yeah, I guess I've really done you some kind of tangible harm by not agreeing with you. You've made multiple personal digs at me. But somehow I'm the problem. Again, so sorry for feeling differently than you. Sorry for taking a minute to ask out loud whether this show is really any good.

Only in the sense that a contrary opinion is "trollish." I think I've clearly approached this conversation in good faith. And I also think it says "Comments," not "Comments In Agreement With the Vast Majority of Readers."

I do enjoy the history of it. And I'm a sucker for spy drama, so anything of value I can learn about Cold War era spies is fun for me. There is that. I'm just struggling to see why everyone is so high on this show. I can't find the uniqueness of it. I can't find what character I'm supposed to root for. The Russian

I think my problem is that these motivations, family and patriotism, are too broad and pliable. You can justify a character doing almost anything if they believe it's in the best interests of their country or family. But I also think The Americans fails us by not giving the main characters any discernible personality.

I don't know. I really feel like all the ingredients are there for this to be great, so I haven't given up. But I'm reaching the point where I'd just like someone to tell me what, precisely is so great about this show. And I don't mean to defend it. I mean, if I were sitting down ready to start Season 1 of The

I guess Russia could win the Cold War.

"The show still has many potential dramatic decisions to make."

Here's the thing: No matter how well they sell us on that idea, I'm just not buying it in the third episode of the season. Maybe a premier. For a finale, I'm ready to buy the possibility. But I just can't see them wasting a development that big without the benefit of a cliff-hanger between seasons.

A lumberjack reboot could only improve this show. I was thinking today about as much as Dexter sucked at the end it was at least a notable disaster. The Americans is just a run of the mill cable drama posing as something more refined.

Well, most shows find ways to attach compelling stakes without directly threatening the main characters. Game of Thrones, on the other hand just kills anybody.

It's like I watch yet another boring episode of The Americans and I see that it's received an "A" from a critic and an "A-" from the rest of the world, and I feel like I'm broken.

Let it go, man.

Yeah, but if God didn't want them immunized why should everyone else help them out by getting their immunizations to eradicate the diseases they can't help but be vulnerable to? God's will, dude. G's W.

You're right. I don't adequately hate people who didn't get immunizations, and I don't want them all to die enough. I could've wanted all of the non-immunized people to die more. That was the flaw in my thinking.

Why is it that every time you crack wise about immunizations, someone who knows science shows up and starts talking about sick, innocent babies?

To be fair, idiots who refuse to get immunized do not put the entire community at risk. They only put other idiots who refuse to get immunized at risk. Eventually, all of the idiots will wipe each other out, and then the rest of us can enjoy Captain EO like normal.

How about Part II of the California Love video? I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS AFTER TUPAC WAKES UP!
