I wish AVC would assign Sean O'Neal to the James Franco beat, a job that would require Sean to follow James Franco exclusively and blog up-to-the-minute news on Franco developments. And then, after a year or two, Sean publishes the greatest book of all time…
"… based on his 2003 album Chicken-N-Beer,
the idea that people look to their favorite rappers as a mark of
quality on fried chicken, and a long-term strategy to make Bill Cosby
lose his shit."
What's On Tonight is like the Family Circus of AVClub.
"just in time for you to baffle your parents by showing it to them for Christmas!"
I infer from this that someone else was saying, "Word." in 2009?
My Name is Earl comes to mind.
Has anyone jumped ahead to the part where Netflix starts making Community episodes?
Niche programming makes money on cable. So, even though Community draws a 1.5 (or whatever) on NBC, its fanbase is loyal enough to support a rating number strong enough to syndicate on a cable network. It's not Seinfeld money, by any means, but there is money to be made syndicating a show with a loyal audience.
I wonder if Todd would give up reviewing Community in exchange for its renewal.
Wow. This is terrible for just about everyone, especially consumers. All that Billboard has done here is ensure that records from major artists will cost more. This at a time when the economy sucks and the record industry is in the tank. Heaven forbid sales get, "goosed." How dare we disrupt the sanctity of evaluating…
And now Todd has recommended that we watch Glee. Well done. Is there any corner you can't paint yourself into?
Make way for the Obvious Entourage Ending to Season 2, where Andy Sussman calls Ben in what is seemingly his darkest hour and says," ARE YOU GUYS STILL LOOKING FOR A REP? BECAUSE GUESS WHO JUST GOT YOU A MEETING AT BARNEY'S? BAM!"
Oh, I get it, Todd VanDerWerff was writing this, which explains why Todd VanDerWerff told us that the thing to watch tonight is a Cheers episode that aired 30 years ago. Because this Cheers episode that was on on September 30, 1982 is "What's On Tonight." Let me get this straight: AVClub has a daily feature in which…
Fail.
Guilty as charged.
He kind of did.
What's getting Todd VanDerWerff REALLY excited is seeing his own name on computer screens something like 400 times a day. Seriously, this gratuitous feature seems anathema to AVClub's entire prior existence, and with every Leno-esque comment through which Todd self-promotes both himself and the site, he carefully…
I hope everyone realizes that as soon as Jax learns about Clay being Uncle Claudius and vows to kill him, that will be the exact moment Zobelle pops up again. Therefore, Jax will decide to suspend vengeance for the murder of his father to instead get vengeance for the rape of his mother, and Clay will get to survive…
I watched this movie, which apparently is more than I can say for Scott Tobias.
