I would stick up for "Authority Song" and "Hurts So Good," too, but I realize not a lot of people would come along with me.  They're dumb songs, but it's not like they don't *know* they're dumb songs.  And they're good at it!

Also, going to the Milky Way is kind of like going to Earth.

Even with a casual familiarity with the Moog Cookbook, I still briefly misread that as "Mong Cookbook" and figured the link above was to some Tim and Eric-ish postmodern sketch comedy thing called the Mong Cookbook. Somebody get on that, willya?

BONG

I've not even heard of this Green Machine stuff.  Is it like that Odwalla Superfood drink with the spinach?

I wonder, how much is a certain amount?

Have you seen the video of her performing Elvis Costello's "I Want You" with him backing her on guitar?  Holy crap, it might be the most intense performance I've ever seen.

Or at least have the interviewer play devil's advocate and make the songhater defend his opinion.  It's not like we need the interviewer's opinion one way or the other.

That's largely my experience with her too.  That first album was very good, especially the singles. For a long time I thought she simply lost it after the first album, but I think I was just so overwhelmed by the suckiness of "Soak Up the Sun" that I mistakenly thought her whole later output was lousy.  But yeah, "My

Plus they removed *everything* that was fun about the song:  the funky, heavy guitar riff, the fuzz guitar leads, the driving beat, and of course the killer vocals from Burton Cummings, rather than the thin, nasally vocals of Lenny Kravitz.  It's not a great song, but it's a successful big dumb rock song, and Lenny

Since you mention it, all the mixing on this song is kind of bad.  Everything sounds very thin and tinny and insubstantial.  I think I might like it more if not for that (and if it hadn't spent ten years being run into the ground).

Now THAT'S an internet meltdown! Well done.

The coolest thing about this song is that Violent Onsen Geisha sampled it in the Otis album.  Hell, sampled, the guy had his WAY with this song.  Totally hilarious.

Why?  Everybody thinks their taste is better than everybody else's taste.

"Cherry Bomb," dude.  Come on.  "Cherry Bomb" rules.

"I was born
Long ago
I am the Chosen, I'm the One"

It's actually kind of fun to try to break down what Lenny Kravitz song is copying what artist.  I knew he did that, but I didn't realize how consistently until reading this article.  Lessee, "Are You Gonna Go My Way" is Hendrix, "It Ain't Over Till It's Over" is Smokey (though I'm with Lt. Broccoli on liking that

It always bugged me that that Fly Away song ripped off "Pretty Noose" by Soundgarden (a pretty awesome song).

"Ennnd sceeeeeene!"

I was just… staring at my inbox!  Yeah!
