Really? I've never met anyone who thought Blazing Saddles was anything less than a brilliantly funny movie ABOUT racism. And some of those people have some pretty casual racist attitudes, but they all still got Blazing Saddles.

I know that the damsel in distress trope bespeaks sexism normally, but in and of itself it's not sexist. I don't think any case can be made that this film is at all sexist. But then, I don't understand how someone can only relate to revenge movies in which the rights being wronged have to do with the group they

This brings up something interesting: what's next for Tarantino? If you look at his oeuvre, not counting Death Proof (since that was half of a special project), and counting both Kill Bill films as one (since that's how it was shot), he's done two loose trilogies: Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown are

That is EXACTLY what I thought walking out of it.

He straight up says he dreamed the phone call and there's a shot that cuts from him speaking on the phone to him just sitting there that establishes it as a dream. I recognize that it's mean to be disorienting and a little confusing, but I don't think there's any real amiguity about the phone call being a dream.

Just be careful where you point that thing. Put someones eye out you're not careful.

Also, I think it's funny the way people are differentiating between the descriptors 'good' and 'awesome', as though they're actual solid measurements of enjoyment or as though 'awesome' is being used literally.

Yeah up until this year, with Cabin In The Woods and Avengers, the only thing of Whedon's that I'd seen was Serenity, and I didn't care for it (probably b/c I had zero knowledge of the characters and storyline and so no real investment in either). I'm definitely not a Whedon loyalist of any kind and yet I still
