I think Damon's problems stem more from his fear of rejection than they do from Elena's behavior. She's constantly reassuring him that she loves him and has never said she would leave him if he broke his promise about Bonnie. A lot of that is in Damon's head.

I'd never consider someone unfortunate enough to lose her adoptive parents, her biological parents, her aunt, and her father figure in the course of a year to be "spoiled." I'm pretty sure that's the exact opposite of "spoiled."

She does tend to string guys along. She even resumed flirting with Matt in S3. I'm not an Elena-hater, so I assume this is because she's lost so many people and doesn't want to lose any others. I'm sure others will have a more slut-shamey explanation.
