You're right, I had forgotten about that, but that *was* cringe-worthy.  One more reason to lament the first episode twist that saved them.

I don't think that's a-holish, I think that's fairly astute.  And a fairly natural/human response on her part, although a little common sense would have told her that of course a four year old wouldn't not be proud of her Mommy unless someone tells that four year old not to be proud of her (like her mother — on

I've been noticing too that the Dudez are unfailingly polite and respectful to locals — they even asked if it was acceptable to run in the vicinity of the temple.  Not that anyone this season has been rude or Ugly American-ish, at least yet.

"I'd Rather Be Lonely", Loudon Wainwright III

Man, I used to love Ani DiFranco in the day.  "Sorry I Am" is a brutally good break-up song when you're young, dumped, sensitive and drunk.

Yeah, the Richard Thompson possibilities are endless.  I nominated Beeswing already, but now that I think about it, For Shame of Doing Wrong might be even more perfect.  "When I see lovers holding hands and sighing, I hang my head for shame of doing wrong… I wish I was a fool for you again."

"Beeswing" by Richard Thompson always fucking slays me.  I think it captures the way, sometimes, the quality that made you fall in love with a person is the exact quality that's going to keep it from lasting, and there's nothing you can do about it.

They're the two who know about Ozzy's Idol, right?  They're get-at-able, I think, but a) does Jim really know they're get-at-able, or is he just blind hoping? and b) I think they'd be more open to a "blindside Ozzy now while he's totally unsuspecting" pitch — which is infinitely the smarter play anyway.

Cochran doesn't have a hot chance in hell of winning this thing, but the longer he sticks around the happier I am. Sad to see Papa Bear go too, if only because I laughed every time Probst addressed him as "Papa Bear."  He's the kind of slightly off-kilter character that Survivor really thrives on, and watching him

That actually is a great idea — the one beach thing, not the men v women thing, which haven''t they done that already and it was dumb?  Hopefully it will also mean no more Redemption Island.

You can put me in the "hate" RI category as well.  It's dumb and it ain't no fun, and unlike the other dumb no fun twists they've introduced, this one is a significant time suck.

On most competition-based reality shows, really.  I've always assumed it's because the contestants are American.

That would be a brilliant sitcom.  Except without Dexter, or anyone who was ever related to Dexter in any capacity, or even watched the show.  But starring Rhys Ifans as the murderous undertaker.

Mulholland Drive by several parasangs.

My bologna has a first name it's U-r-i-n-e…

I'm right there with you (except replace 2 year old with 4 year old and 0 year old), and enjoying it (or at least enjoying Arnett and Applegate) enough to keep watching.  I'm not in love with it, but in like with it.

Nicely done.  The response was timely, the icon looks clean and professional, the password is intuitive and easily remembered… strong, strong work.

So far I guess I'm rooting for the football player, as a sort of default.  I'm tempted to root for Ernie because, come on, Ernie is an awesome name — I kept singing that Fred Eaglesmith song every time his name popped up, much to my wife's annoyance — but I strongly suspect that his partner will irritate me intensely

As far as I can remember, To Live and Die in LA was an awesome flick.  AVClub needs to pull it out of the vaults and review it so I can know whether I'm still suppose to think it's awesome.

In Ozzy's first season, he was in the plucky-underdog group with Yul and Becky.  He and Yul made a kind of dream team, Ozzy dominated challenges and Yul dominated the social and strategic side; they ended up in the final together, and Yul squeaked out the win — I think it was a 5-4 vote.
