SPOILER: It's nice that this isn't just an arbitrarily dumb decision to contrive why Jake remains on the station. It's actually a pattern of risky behavior that will pay off when Jake learns Some Very Important Lessons in "Nor the Battle to the Strong".

"The Federation has dealt with brute force, first in the form of the Klingons, and then the Borg. But an enemy who’s willing to engage on multiple levels is, as far as I can remember, pretty much a first, at least on this scale."

"She can give herself the speed of a cheetah or the flexibility of a snake to adjust broken bones…"

My favorites are the throwaway gags that remain high-concept.

It may also be a case of Trek writers' usual mishandling of humor, but with the actors (directors, editors…) finding a way to believably sell it.

The most memorable one for me was when he gets buried under an avalanche and has to improvise a way to signal the rescue party that's looking for him.

"Fascination" feels like it would be a subpar episode even in DS9's first season (like a belated attempt at TNG's "The Naked Now"). Among its flaws, I find the festival scenes particularly irritating simply for their dullness. They remind me of the party scenes we'd get on TNG, that largely consisted of folks standing

It's not a terribly pressing question, but maybe all the ore came from an asteroid belt, and was therefore much more distributed a natural resource than if it had been on a planet or moon. A stationary processing facility might then make less sense than one that is at least somewhat mobile.

I don't remember Dax's piano, but your description brings to mind Picard's flute at the end of The Inner Light. It's possible that the latter moment inspired the former, with the instrument providing a shorthand glimpse of how the character has been changed by the memory of another life lived.

Mighty convenient that hosts always die immediately after being separated from their symbionts, else they could corroborate just how symbiotic the joining was.

I'm a gay guy who thinks that the desire for children is a kind of mental illness, and I was prepared to dislike this based just on the commercials.

"MacGuffin" continues to be accepted more as a general synonym for a plot device, rather than a very specific kind of plot device.
