AAAh Wilkie Collins is the BEST! I much prefer The Woman in White to the Moonstone, though, but they're both pretty fantastic (as is No Name).

I liked Locke Lamora, from what I remember, but I read it several years ago, and I was quite young at that point, so I don't know if it (and its apparent sequels) are worth revisiting, but I'm seeing a lot of references to it all of a sudden, so maybe I will.
If the new victor is a blonde woman, I WILL KILL MYSELF!
I thought the joke was that that's by far the most normal name in the books.
But the Roman thing happens on a much more personal level; the feeling in the Hunger Games (if I remember aright) is that these people are paying for something they didn't do (whereas if your army unit screwed up, it makes sense that they'd punish you).
I really want a YA book where the society seems like a dystopia but is in fact just a topia.
No spoiler warnings for the Roman Empire??
but yeah, the Persians did that too.
Anyone else watch National Treasure every single time they had a sub in middle school? Cause I sure as hell did.
Oh, and in my Latin class a few semesters ago, we watched two episodes of Arrested Development and one of Community. Not movies, but still awesome.
I read Julius Caesar as a *freshman*. Which made sense, because we were also all taking ancient history at that point. But, yeah, we had the Odyssey too.
I still haven't read/seen R&J.
Mine had one, too. I didn't take it, but I think they watched, like Psycho and To Be or Not To Be and Vertigo and Citizen Kane and stuff. Lots of Hitchcock.
Dear Savage Cookie,
What kind of cookie should I make tonight?
She's so me. I love her.
"I know you're manipulating meā¦but I love it and I'm going to tell you everything."
Santiago/Peralta is a classic uptight girl/goofy guy pairing, but what I like about this iteration is them already being comfortable with each other (knowing embarrassing trivia, etc), adding the comfy partners vibe along with the sexual/romantic tension.
I found it mildly amusing when I caught my first few episodes randomly, and then my enjoyment skyrocketed when I went back and watched in order.
But the same thing happened to me with Parks and Rec, so I don't know how universal that is.
It's like people who don't watch New Girl cause they don't like Deschanel. I get why, but they're missing out.
Also, Terry Crews' enthusiasm is always outstanding.
Santiago is a beautiful buzzkill.
HIS NAME IS CONNOR AND HE WENT TO SUNY BINGHAMTON!
I used to live with forty birds, but they flew away. I moved on.
