“It looks cool? That’s literally it.”

...because we should forever associate diner food with the smell of our own piss.

You’re basically describing me circa ~2005 there, but you lose me at “it is time to freak out a little about losing your past”. Personally, I don’t look too fondly back on those memories of riding around on public transit, somberly staring out the window, pondering The Crane Wife (or whatever).

Re: getting old, I kinda feel like the 00's indie movement was largely a testament to How Serious Life Is in your 20's. Much of it feels melodramatic in retrospect (and not in the fun way), and it doesn’t connect with me any more, just as the resurgent emo wave catering to my demo in the late 90's feels silly in

I’m pretty sure “I fear that it will quickly escalate” is the primary arugment for it being a bad idea.

I’ve seen a few, heard of all but #1. That doesn’t seem right.

That...sounds like a premise for a highly successful website.

That’s just the difference between being a shitty famous person, and being famously shitty person. Alec is the latter. The former gets you blacklisted, while the latter gets you a solid leg up in a primary campaign.

The most noteworthy thing about the original is that they managed to assemble a young cast that would be really impressive in hindsight. So I guess the pitch was, “Hey guys, wouldn’t it be cool if we remake this mediocre movie, and then everyone goes on to be really successful like in the original?!”

Omg, a politician dropping an opportunistic party line?!!? Unheard of! Unforgivable!!!

“...I don’t think I can ever turn on SNL again.”

It’s particularly baffling given that the attack came from zealots of *another* religion, who are particularly hostile to Christians. So if you believe that it’s punishment from God, then it kinda seems like God’s implicit endorsement of the other team.

No, the supposed blame is on straight people for not sufficiently hating gay people...so the logic gap comes into play more directly at the crux of the issue.

Yeah, sounds like it could be a real Odd Couple scenario.

Why not? He perfectly encapsulates human-looking.

Are we? Kinda seems like hard liners are jettisoning anything resembling religious or moral imperatives in favor of a sweet blend of electoral wins and outright nihilism. “Nothing matters because there are bad people on both sides” seems to be the guiding political philosophy of the past two years.

...and then you see the ridiculous face that goes with the ridiculous name, and realize there’s no joke, and of course Trump would place his trust in this guy.

Mortimer? Duke Mortimer, is that you?

I dunno, he seems quite satisfied with himself to me.

If I had to guess, they’re banking on either end times, or the collapse of human civilization in the near-term. Why waste all those pencil-pushers’ time when they could better use it learning how forage or dress field wounds?
