@YOXIM: They actually went through the whole "OMG WE GOT A CONTRACT um how come we're broke" thing about twenty years ago. Ironic that they had less money with the contract and sold-out (medium venue) shows than they did when they were busking cross country in a van. Record companies have been screwing the talent

@YOXIM: I have friends who were ecstatic over getting a contract with a major. In the end, they were even happier when the contract expired. Now they make a good living off of their music, instead of having a record company soak it all up.

Listen to the director's commentary for Titus and it's obvious that Taynor is an idiot savant who had no idea what she was doing when she produced that stunning work of art. I hope she can do the same thing again.

GIF works best for line art and graphics with large blocks of homogeneous color. It avoids the nasty artifacts that JPG creates, which are usually covered up in photographs because the colors are noisy at the pixel level anyway.

@keeblerelf: he's not pretending that it is or should be legal to freeload off of people who worked their asses off to bring you your special little entertainment song

@fiman16: "Say, honey, could you draw me a picture of that guy you're bangin'?"

@SolCross: You can always tell which direction the camcar was going by the image of the car that was following it. I wonder if someone has been busted in the wrong place at the wrong time because of it. In one of my shots, I'm driving a company car in a place that we normally wouldn't go to, but I had an excuse.

@SolCross: I'm in there twice in cars, and saw the camcar another time when I was on foot but haven't been able to find that one. But you don't need to know where.

There used to be a very common translucent plastic that smelled just like puke. I had several screwdrivers with handles made out of it, and the smell never really went away. Be glad that wasn't the awesome proprietary totally non-toxic don't worry plastic they used.

@Isaac: Thumbs up to this one! Although it would take me nearly forever to collect 288 wine corks...I suppose if I split them in two it would only take me half of forever.

@SquareWheel: It's like so many of these HiveMind questions, people vote for the only one they know, and FB has a giant userbase. HiveMind rankings would be more useful if the people who voted had experience with at least two of the options. As it is, it's just a way to see what's available.

Didn't ADT just try this in Chile with pop-open boxes?

Mantis shrimp are bad-ass. It's not uncommon to get a tiny one in a seawater tank by accident when you put a live rock in it. Then they grow up...if it's a slasher, it'll eat everything in the tank. If it's a hammerer, when it gets mature it will try to attack its own reflection in the glass and crack the tank.

Wow. Here's a guy who could have been saved by two different Gawker Media articles from the past few days, the one about not following your GPS when it gets stupid, and the one about how to get out of a car in the water.

@Lifeboy: Good advice. A dead hero is still dead. Sometimes you can help more just by getting people to clear the area.

Remember to check your extinguisher occasionally, too. I pulled over to help a guy whose car was on fire the other day, and my extinguisher was empty. Fortunately, a couple of other people showed up with ones that worked.

@Urban Sophist: The word Palestine is a version of Philistia, that's why the Romans and pretty much everyone else used that term for the area and it kind of stuck. It wasn't an antisemitic plot. However, the Palestinians of today have genetic markers that show that they've been there for a good 4000 years or more

Tiger's most likely mad at himself for blowing the shot, not the photographer for getting it.

@spline9: My thought was more that gathering the bag through the neck of the bottle would produce too much bulk to allow the cap to be screwed on. Spread it out on a larger bottleneck and you've solved the problem.
