Drunk driving accounts for so few accidents in the country. Comapred to cell phone driver and sleepy drivers, DUI crashes make up a nearly meaningless portion of the crashes. But its low hanging fruit - no one in theri right mind would ever speak out in support of drunks - but this is misguided tech.

The ‘64 Avanti gets my vote as America’s all-time best styled car. No joke, all cars line up behind that model:

You should be a good son and take it off their hands.

My thoughts exactly. I don’t want a new EV wearing an old body. I want an old truck that happens to be an EV. Stock gauges rebuilt to handle new purposes, low-key single DIN stereo, no backup cameras (because they are so old you can still see out of the things). One thing I would concede is upgrading the suspension

I think the issue is not whether or not the concept is cool, but whether the actual execution is cool. Personally, I’d love to see them do this setup but keep the interior closer to stock. The modern wheel and seats stand out in a bad way.

This times 100 billion.

The giant tablet haphazardly slapped onto the dash is the biggest intersection between "things manufacturers think look expensive" and "things a poor person would do to act rich" in recent memory.

This is really cool. If you don’t like it, Shut up and skip to the next article.

Am I alone in thinking they need to make this whole electric crate motor thing easier for the average enthusiast? I’m thinking a direct swap for the original engine, using the same engine mounts and rough dimensions. Maybe replace the fuel tank for a battery pack. Is this not feasible for some reason?

I doubt you would go through the effort of ripping out the dashboard, seats, and seemingly replacing the entire interior wiring loom for this, though. If this is supposed to keep older vehicles alive it shouldn’t require gutting the entire interior of the vehicle, which is what Ford’s suggesting with this. You should

Eh, I kinda like that they didn’t pay some pro builder a million $$$ to make something none of us could ever aspire to.

Just tested this on my 25 year old Toyota. Does the same thing, but the button doesn’t clack in the same way. I guess that’s something.

Are we missing something? I think every car I’ve owned since....2002? has had this feature, even the ‘21 Corolla penalty-box rental I’m in at the moment. As long as you’re not a ham-fisted moron, it’s fairly easy to adjust windows to your liking without engaging the auto down/up feature.

I assume the German Car Parking Mode comes standard?

So it’s just a particularly sensitive window switch without an auto up/down feature?

I must be missing something. What exactly is different about this than a window switch without an auto down/auto up feature? My Hyundai Elantra doesn’t have automatic windows, so I just push “down” and then let go when the window is where I want it, and it stops moving. Is that... all this is...?

Couldn’t resist, huh?

Ohm my god that was terrible.

The giant honkin exhaust might be a bit of a giveaway my friend

I dropped a Subaru EJ20 Turbo in my ‘67. The radiator is up front with a scoop underneath. The hardest part was hiding everything so you couldn’t tell it the engine was swapped.
