Mandatory voting would pretty obviously run counter to the 1st amendment considering that it would be compelled speech. Forcing people to make a political action removes the freedom to abstain from speech, similar to our freedom of religion allows us freedom to abstain from religion.

I actually was able to successfully (and quickly) cancel my comcast account over the phone without issue. It took a little homework ahead of time, and a small lie, but it saved a lot of the headaches in the article.
