easier but not impossible. I imagine the rich man who uses his wealth and power to improve the lives of his fellow man has a pretty good chance. I mean poverty is all well and good but money = power and power =the ability to affect meaningful change for a lot of people.

Honestly, the thing that gets me the most, is knowing that every time one our young people encounters this(and is lucky enough to walk away), they’re broken just a little. That experience of fear, horror, harrasment, of being treated as less than human, will never leave them.

I was all excited -- thought Trading Paint was a decorating show or art swap, instead it’s a John Travolta movie--words that strike fear in the hearts of movie goers these days.

Even without the interest in sports and academia, USC has been in tons of movies, tv shows etc.. it’s one of the big four in California along with Berkeley, Stanford and UCLA that are prominent in pop culture. Does the East Coast really ignore the rest of the country that much?

presumably he didn’t know their names at all and just knew Idris Elba from the Wire, which really? You don’t have to be an Idris fan to know about the 50 million projects he’s been in since the Wire

honestly, hooking up with his deceased brother’s wife is probably the least disturbing thing he’s done.

eh, I mean she’s got good taste in men who will spend frivilously and generously on her and are apparently so busy banging everything in sight that she won’t have to be bothered with him for long.

terrible anyway because he was both a literally child and also portraying a fictional character. Even if he had been a shitheel in real life, harassing him because of things that Joffrey did was cruel and ridiculous.

This cracks me up, mostly because Donald Sutherland always looks and sounds like he is high.

eh, Anton Yelchin would like to have a word about the safety of manual transmission

Gotta say, I find most of these attitudes really weird. I mean I’m American and I know we have prudishness down to an art, but while I have no desire to watch my relatives have sex, the idea that they are still hot for each other after all that time would be hopeful and heartwarming to me.

nope, they seem very much one of those “does everything together” couples and it seems to work for them -at least 20 years and counting it has. I’m a fan because I knew them from All My Children and find their whole story adorably “real life romantic comedy”, and I enjoy seeing people “happy” and enjoying their lives,

plus, going back to school is no guarantee you’ll get a great job, as many degreed people can tell you.

nah, they were under a year, basically handfasting.

No Christian Kane?

not part of the Jez regular community, I just flit in and out but just wanna say hang in there.

Plus Anne Frank, Annie Jump Cannon, Annie Sullivan and Annie Oakley all badasses.

If we think they are good actors, doesn’t that actually make them good actors? Acting is not an objective presentation, and the word “good” doesn’t mean anything in this context.

I think sometimes we confuse “being able to convincingly portray a character on screen” which is what a good actor is, with ‘deep person with magnificent understanding of the human psyche’-which is what a good therapist is.

no, you’re right, spending half an hour a day doodling isn’t going to teach you anything significant, though you might have a lot of fun, but spending half an hour a day is not going to teach you much of anything in a hurry. Double that and you’ll do better, triple it, quad it and you’ll do even better still. As
