Reverse that. Serifs are easier to read; sans serifs look more modern and cleaner and that’s why advertisers love them. But yep, it’s been studied and I not only change everything to Times New Roman but request that everything my students write is in that font.

Don’t worry... give it a decade or so and TNR will go all retro-cool.

Why? The trick is to sound awesome in ANY font ;)

I must have been an odd kid, as my favorite was Georgia and other stuffy faces. I currently try to use Palantino Linotype with all ligatures turned on everything, as it’s the only oldstyle in which ligatures are evident (not sure why I can’t get any out of Constantia, another favorite).

It’s really not. I focused on typeface design for improved readability as my MFA thesis. That article is well-intentioned, but ultimately misguided.

I have used comic sans in work emails before. I KNOW how bad it is but it doesn’t bug me. Oh does it spew hate from our graphics designers. I make it a point to change to that font every time I contact our designers. The pain it brings them is worth it. Considering every other email of mine are done in boring Arial.

I’m too lazy to change from default font in email, but the one thing that really irritates me about sans serif fonts is that they so often make upper case “I” and lowercase “l” look identical.

I have an irrational hatred of Times New Roman, and refuse to use it, but would never drag someone else for doing so. I like clean lines, so I always default to Arial in my work correspondence and documents. If that communicates to someone that I am some type of undercover Dexter outside of work hours, so be it.
