One thing this article doesn’t reference is the status of Zach Lowe.

I’m still pissed about Mark Stein being let go.
Or alternatively:
this article misses the point. it’s not about what ballmer learned, it’s a public education project..
Want to know how many police officers are employed in various parts of the country and compare that against crime rates? Want to know how much revenue is brought in from parking tickets and the cost to collect? Want to know what percentage of Americans suffer from diagnosed depression and how much the government…
Yeah, I don’t get the snark. I consider myself fairly well-informed about government spending, public policy, the safety net, etc., so his findings probably wouldn’t surprise me. But if I can show my conservative parents “Hey here are some numbers that this insanely rich guy without an axe to grind found...”, that…
Yeah really, he created a public website that makes it easier for people to access and digest public record on government spending, which is very cool... this article makes it seem like Steve just paid 10 million to teach himself tax policy
Besides twisting it to seem like an indictment on the rich man who commissioned it, yes.
Yeah I’d rather he came to understanding later in life than not have him ever grasp it.
Right? Disregard whatever perceived ignorance may have been the root of it (and I really doubt that he was THAT ignorant), but if he is acquiring, compiling and making legitimate data available for public consumption, that has to be a good thing. The sheer volume and nigh-on indecipherability of much of this…
Yeah, I’m actually very confused by the asshole tone of this article.
Man does good thing. Blog that agrees with his conclusions mocks him anyways.
All things considered this is actually pretty cool and good?
Ummm...no. That’s not how this works.
...How can I cheer for a team whose owner and QB fundamentally and publicly oppose what I believe is right and just? Maybe you can, but I can’t.
Strategically, I guess there are some minerals on and around the island, along with the attendant territorial rights which radiate from the islands, but that’s about it.
A country’s territorial waters extend twelve nautical miles off of its shoreline, and it’s exclusive economic zone (EEZ) extends 200 miles. So, posession of these islands comes with a much larger area with fishing and mineral rights.
Pats fan as well, I just tell myself I don’t care about them as people, just as football players/coaches/owners. Makes it easier. I don’t care to hear their opinions on anything other than football.
Terrible pro sports scene, Snidely Whiplash-looking owner, fan apathy most years, fucking the community over for a new stadium, and they got caught pumping in crowd noise into the stadium last year.
dude, i’m die hard pats fan and i’m questioning whether I can continue being one.
