I think this is one of the most difficult aspects of my depression. I feel guilty about it, and I don’t want to be a burden on others. And as a mother of two grown children, I will never not question the effect of having a parent with depression had on them.

Remember, the “dismiss” button is your friend!

I’ve been a follower of yours for a while, but I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate all of your informative posts.

I was a student at PSU in the early ‘90's, and worked briefly at the Portland Development Commission (don’t judge - I got out quickly!), and I remember PSU doing a lot of urban studies around that time. I can’t remember the Professor (he may have been more than a professor) at the time who really spearheaded a lot of

Not all newcomers are alike! Welcome to Portland, I appreciate your thoughtful responses, and that you clearly care about the history and future of the city. It really can be a great place to live.

Rant continues.

I’ve lived here about 35 years now, 30 of those in inner NE Portland. I’ve seen some massive changes here, and I’m not thrilled about the gentrification in my neighborhood. Yep.

Those fucking patriots. I remember back in the day when the skinheads were a problem - same deal, different name. I was shocked when I first moved here (about the time Mulugeta Seraw was murdered), because I thought Portland was such a nice liberal city. It was an eye-opener for sure.

Yoink! I’m stealing this!

That’s such an Oregonian thing to say! (personally, I’ve never understood the appeal - their special sauce is disgusting)

I can’t even read the Oregonian anymore, let alone the comments! But I am cautiously hopeful that this momentum keeps up, and things start changing.

Damn, I love her! Long time coming.

She has been advocating for N/NE Portland as long as I can remember (I’ve lived here about 30 years), she is definitely a badass!

Jo Ann Hardesty is the best thing to happen to Portland! She’s been around forever, and I’m so glad she’s getting the recognition she deserves.

I raised two children and 4 years old is entirely appropriate. Especially if they’re repeating things.

Yes.

Well, my first thought was that Barron bit him, so maybe based on the truth?
