I feel exhausted just reading about this movie. I had it in my queue and then quickly took it out. I can’t imagine spending 5 hours trying to dig my way through a narrative where my choices are “monkey needs a hug” or “monkey loves you.”

Black Panther was so great. I teach in Maine, white people central (including me), and I had a black student who literally talked to me about Black Panther daily for WEEKS. This kid just needs more opportunities to see himself represented on screen. And Luke Cage is great, but I can’t recommend that to my elementary…

I don’t mean to be that person, but it would be awesome if Disney would turn our a movie featuring a black boy as a lead. I know Coco just came out, but Miguel is Mexican. I just think our black boys could use some of the same empowering messages that girls are getting through the princess films.
