There's some hidden genius on Lulu, but its really a Lou Reed record with the guys from Metallica in his band. Every time James Hetfield sings whatever good vibes that were previously established disappear..
First favorite band was Sum 41, that's how I got into music. I still stand by their early material as a pretty good synthesis of genres (punk, metal, rap, ska) in a fun punk rock setting.
There are only two telecom companies in Canada, Bell and Rodgers. All the various cell phone companies are actually just brands of those two companies. This is why you can get better phone plans in Africa than in Canada.
Just like Michael Corleone, we all get sucked back into the family, even as we try to escape it.
Well, yeah they're different religions for a reason. But the I think what Arundel is getting at is that a real Catholic should be understanding of someone for being a Muslim, because Catholicism is all about forgiveness. Indeed, there is the unspoken idea that if a Muslim or anyone else doesn't repent they're going to…
The thing a lot of people don't realize about Catholicism vs other types of Christianity is that it's so insanely huge, it's much more of a big tent than other denominations. There's 1.2 billion Catholics, including 14 million in majority Muslim countries. Non Catholics tend to look to the Orthodox Catholic Church…
There's an amazing amount of great music out there people haven't heard of. These documentaries are good for spreading the word. The soundtrack to Ghengis Blues changed my life.
I'm pretty sure it's just a euphemism for alcoholic.
I suspect it's because all those guys playing in the first punk wave were interpreting music from their childhood 20 years before, while the equivalent for 90s punks was that first wave of punk.
Yeah alcoholism is such a juvenile problem.
My favorite part about Girls is that it's so completely devisive that I don't trust anything anyone writes about it and have embraced that it is a show I have to judge entirely on my perception of its own merits.
The drugs would have gotten them sooner or later as well. Probably sooner. On a human level it's better to be alive and making shitty music than dead and making no music at all. As far as being regarded as a legend though, I see where you're coming from.
There's more to metal than anger, and I think your focus on the state of music United States is making you miss the fact that the genre really flourished in Europe, where it is still considerably more popular.
For my personal New Jersey, I'd choose Teenagers from Mars by the Misfits. If it was up to a statewide vote I'd nominate Astro Zombies.
Personality Crisis is perfect.
Try seeing it as an economic revolution in the world of black music. Samplers and drum machines replaced musicians like robots and outsourcing (the result of new transportation technology) replaced people on assembly lines. The whole working plethora of musicians was reduced to just producers and rappers. But that…
@avclub-e3f5ab7f02122f95b801e13e2c586d6a:disqus When it comes to older rappers who have been successful for a long time, it's rarer than you'd think.
They're a really easy band to not like. Mostly because their music is boring, dated, and kind of annoying. If you're of their era no one blames you for liking them, but grunge is mostly terrible.
I imagine he'll just be Reek, following Ramsay Snow as he becomes Ramsay Bolton and marries (and starves to death) the Lady Hornwood, and wrap up the loose ends of the war in the North. And really the show will be focusing on Ramsay. Which will be interesting to see if they can pull off.
