Little Sister's of the Poor University is really turning this into a cottage industry
Is it bad that I love any story about the NFL, NBA or MLB getting screwed?
Ah shit, Im 26 and still just chuck pretty much everything in the dishwasher
I don't even think the OU fan's were being that outlandish for a sporting event- Getting into a fight simultaneously in front of your kids and extended family is horrid.
Green Bay hasn't has a game fail to sell out all season so I don't quite follow you extrapolating that out over 10 games. But 5,000 unsold tickets (even for all 10 home games) would not make the Packers operate at a loss, their margins cannot be that thin. That may be income they cannot recoup again, but its not…
Publicly trades companies routinely post losses in excess of $4 million dollar without their stock getting hammered. Hell it might even go up with analysts were expecting a bigger loss. (Also, its been noted that 5,000 seats x $100 per ticket = $500,000, not $4 million)
Except all anecdotal evidence says the contrary (there have been many articles written by Deadspin to that effect). Sports teams have shown no tangential economic benefit to the city they are in. And that's before getting fleeced with having to pay for new stadiums.
Past 25 Years
There is some validity to the argument about usage and roles, but Steven Adams, a pick in the 20's, an $8 million trade except that will go unused because the Thunder are pinching pennies & Jeremy Lamb is an awful haul for a top-1o player.
Now your just being an idiot, Jordan or Robertson have nothing to do with lamb, but hardens current stats vs lambs sure seem relevant considering they're were traded for one another. They didn't trade a 2nd year James harden, they traded the one that is a top 10 player in the league
The difference between what the Thunder offered (4 years, $54 million) and what the max was (5 years, $80 million) is only $2.5 million a year annually, more than enough would be saved by waiving Perkins
Um, why are you giving me Harden's second year stats and not his stats currently?
Or they could have paid him the max, amnestied Kendrick Perkins lifeless husk of a body and be in a way better position going forward.
Or this
I started reading Deadspin regularly about 3 years ago and my tolerance for Simmons shtick has gone from "Hey I like the Wire too" to "God I hate all people from Boston"
With lines like
"You are willing to back a system that will give more money to kids that already get free education, showcase themselves on national TV so some can make millions at the next level, all the while simultaneously taking $ from millions of kids that work just as hard at their sport. Should the women's lacrosse player be…
1. No Shit, that's where I am saying these unprofitable sports should be converted into club teams for those who really want to play.
Title IX needs to go and the majority of these programs will begin to start making money (many will also have to cut unprofitable men's programs).
