I don't know why I didn't consider this possibility before, but it would have been great. Cooper was underused. If I had to choose between them, though, I wouldn't trade his reappearance for Harry's.
There's also a logical flaw here (regarding your second point), in that the Yellow Card Man was trying to prevent an untimely death which happened, I presume, in our original timeline. Jake, however, is trying to prevent one which happened only in an altered timeline.
