Yes, all of my extracurricular activities involved scheduling a full-time job worth of mandatory activities that the school considered more important than my education. They also generated millions in revenue and were the most lucrative thing I’ve ever contributed to and most economically productive thing I’ve ever

Fair enough.

Hey everybody look, an idiot so blinded by bitter jealousy he can’t handle basic reading comprehension.

Hmmmm....I wouldn’t say I “dislike” your argument. If someone was saying “NCAA athletes are literally slaves who are literally kidnapped and literally forced to play a sport literally against their will, and that is wrong,” your argument would have a lot of force and would in fact be correct.

Salary caps are imposed by the owners, no? Isn’t that the point of lock-outs? Is there a reason why players would ever want a salary cap?

Ha! The guy arguing the old-maniest of all opinions is accusing others of being old. Your comment is something I’d let slide from my grandfather, would gently push back on if my dad said it.
The fact that you didn’t say “bucko” means nothing. Fuck...the person who said it probably thought he was just speaking your

GOOD SUBSTANTIVE RESPONSE! YOU CLEARLY HAVE AMAZING CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS!!!!! THAT WAS VERY CONVINCING!!!!!

This is just the fucking worst. Yes college athletes get a lot of perks. No, they are not forced to play. That doesn’t make it any less ridiculous that the people actually responsible for generating revenue are forbidden by rule from getting paid market rates for their labor, while others involved make fistfuls of

Interesting take — and I didn’t consider that. Is that really the author’s point though? After all, did anyone care about unpaid college players when the rosters were had more whites and fewer blacks?

In it’s entirety? I don’t think I can back up far enough to view it all at once.

Good point. If the “free market decides,” only male players will get paid. The Title IX’ers will have an interesting case.

In a vacuum you’re right, it does not matter. But this is one of the largest industries in the United States, located in the south, “employing” mostly black men. Of course it matters. This isn’t a philosphy class.

Paying college players makes sense. But has anyone come up with a fair system of compensation?

Let them profit from their own images. Create a cap on coaches pay.

Oh, please. Give me a break.

I think the subtext is that this situation would be less likely to obtain if it wasn’t a bunch of black guys getting stiffed. “White folks getting rich off the under-compensated labor of black folks” has a familiar ring in US history, does it not?

His point is that people would care more about the obvious abuse by the system, if those being screwed looked more like the average fan or those making decisions. It’s not really that complicated.

“Why should I have to pay these filthy urchins more than a penny an hour? They’re free to starve on the streets.”

Free food! No Rent! Some work required.

So how long before the NFL/NCAA tries to discredit this guy and take away his official agent credentials?
