@Craig Michael Ranapia: That's fine, but I wouldn't tune my TV to watch you weep every week either.

@Starlionblue: Yeah, he does seem quite pompous and he seems to like his own voice a lot :) There are some nice subtleties in the tape. The finnish guy is Mannerheim who is trying to stay neutral in some political matters. German isn't my first language either, but I found a transcript.
@Starlionblue: Actually, there is one tape that was secretly taped in Finland where he discusses in a normal tone. I believe it is the only document where we can have some idea how he behaved outside his public persona.
@Starlionblue: How do you know he was unpleasent?
@Nivenus: Hellbent on power? Well, I guess they rather took something that's true in our world and placed it in theirs. If absolute power doesn't corrupt absolutely in Caprica, then I suppose it would be harder to relate to them as humans.
@Anekanta - Re-Socialized Killbot: Good points there. I would expand that it's interesting to think about the versions of ourselves in the virtual afterlife which clearly is a metaphor for the afterlife real-world religions very keenly advertise.
@Cory Gross: I think it's not about what religions consider faith, it's about what and why people expect something from the supernatural. It's also a little about how it can be used to exploit people (i.e., the price you have to pay). If you promise people everlasting life, some will buy it as your friend very well…
@Cash907Censored: If you say non-religious people presenting religious dilemmas is the same thing as talking to vegan about steakhouses.. then I think your analogy is a bit off.
@SG-17: 1
@Renegade: Is anyone, really, capable of doing the right and noble thing from any other than their own perspective? I'm sad to tell you that regardless of the illusions we grant ourselves.. we are doomed to make our own choices. Also, we are all responsible as individuals to give things a meaning. Most importantly our…
@the memorexe: Yes, I agree. It was brave to make their ubermilitary religious movement leader so fragile and uncertain.
@El_Furioso: Not dead.. and still crying.
@petethepanda: You like slow and light hands better? I suggest you not watch this:
I had a good feeling that they actually did kill Amanda. That would have made the show a lot of good. Clearly the weakest point of season 1.0 was Amanda and her "I'm seeing dead people and going crazy and crying".
@jzroll: No you're not. You can always release your chute. It just spoils the tape, but these guys aren't so stupid to unnecessarily risk their lives. They've seen enough of their friends go splat.
@jinchoung: I believe it was this same Jeb Corliss guy who was collecting money for a stunt where he would land without a parachute.
@RandomThought: Yes, it's all a matter of definition. In my opinion (technological) singularity means a time when technological advancement is near instantaneous (as in approaching infinite knowledge with zero time). I have heard people presenting industrial revolution as a singularity but to me it doesn't ring true.…
.. and if I had cake, I'd eat it
@ltwass: The problem is that currently regardless of technique the AI is still weak compared to humans (in most meaningful aspects). Genetic algorithms are cool and everything, but they are no silver bullet.
I thought you already knew everything there is to know when you are in singularity.. I think that's ehm.. kinda the point?
