Under rocks. You have to be willing to turn a lot of ‘em over to find us.

I remember hearing that step(-) comes from stoep- (Germanic?) meaning grief, thus your dad’s 2nd wife was your “grief mother”, married because dad needed a housekeeper/nanny. after your mom died. I don’t know how accurate that is. I am stoned and going to sleep now.

Thanks, I came here to say the same thing, basically. What he did to Michael Schiavo was monstrous.

This is why, as the mother of an autistic child, I don’t own a gun.

I know the difference, I grew up Down East where they care about such things. My skin still crawls when someone says forecastle. I was punning because she looked like a sprite or a fairy. Also, I couldn't help thinking of that song by G&S "I polished up the brass so gleamily that now I'm an admiral in the King's Navy".

Still sexier than wearing a Camelback- wear it on your back and you look like you should be ringing the bells in Notre Dame, wear it in front and guys will pretend they don't know you.

Someone kept trying to break into my house many years ago. What was creepy was I knew whoever it was knew me and had been in my house during a party. My roomie and I found all the windows had been unlocked. It was creepy. They were unlocked but not opened. We were creeped out because those windows were always kept

I nominate the gang from Mystery Science Theatre 3000, esp Tom Servo

Carmen Miranda needs her fruit bowl back.

I prefer Son of Blob or How the Blob "Ate"the Bimbo...Omm monster porn.

Carmen Miranda needs her fruit bowl back.

Looks like Lord Nelson'missing his bowsprite. VICTORY!

She looks like she's been hosed..

My favorite comment on the Tea Party by JO to J " They're just trying to return us to the principles of the Founders- You know, the Landed Gentry and the stinking rabble".

Doh! It's the SECRET service. Geez, do we have to spell it out for you?

Tanya Huff "Summon the Keeper" series, Terry Pratchett "Wee Free Men" the whole Tiffany Aching series.

Apparently kinja ate my post so I will write this again. I love Twain, Austen, et al. But these days I mostly read YA Lit. Why? Because the "adult" fiction is dark, violent, and nihilistic. Adult characters are not people I want to spend time with. They are ugly and shallow or so twisted I'd run in the opposite

I swear by baking soda for gross burnt stuff! Also, I use one of those glass scrapers- the ones with a razor blade you use to scrape paint off windows- to scrape junk off the inside of my oven. I find orange oil based cleaners clean most burnt stuff off my oven walls. You have to rinse alot but it beats oven cleaner.
Ba

Malala has more courage in her little finger than the entire USA body politic. If they had half her courage gun control and choice and health care and, you get my drift, would not be issues. I hope and pray this young woman lives a long and productive life. The more recognition she receives the more I worry for her

I like YA lit because the current adult lit is violent, nihilistic and dark. YA lit is honest and populated by characters more like those I'd like meet in real life. The characters in most adult lit are ugly. I would cross the street or run in the opposite direction if I met them IRL.
