So? If I’m supposed to angry about Clinton I can also be angry that Sanders not only voted for the damn bill, he bragged he was “tough on crime” for years after that. Maybe, just maybe, Sanders is a disingenuous politician like the rest of them.

One of the effects of chasing after white-working class voters was that Democrats fell prey to the criticism of any Dem politician who took Wall Street money.

He’s speaks to “white issues” without saying that he is talking to mostly white people. Hence, why he keeps getting side eye from so many black people.

I was basing my guess off a graphic I saw recently that said something like only 59% of eligible voters voted.

I mean...here are three examples, all from 2016. He’s consistently had a problem with race and the way he tends to separate/prioritize the needs of “average, white” voters from the needs of minority voters.

You’re saying this one statement as if he hasn’t been criticized about this before now. This has consistently been the problem he’s had with the minority community...it isn’t new, it’s just the newest example.

As I’ve been saying since the election:

So then here’s the question: How “imperfect” can you be before you’re no longer progressive? What’s the line? I’m really asking here...how much of your base do you get to sell out before we no longer have to call you progressive anymore?

Yes. It seems like the more progressives to try reach out to a “certain type” of voter the less progressive they get, but god forbid you call them out on that, because then it’s all “identity politics” and “this is why Trump won” bullshit.

You can be a minority and also be an ordinary American. These things aren’t mutually exclusive.

You realize that while Clinton did say “super predators”, Sanders voted for that bill right? And there was a good bit of discussion about the term on twitter that puts it in context here, I can’t find a better way to link to it, I apologize, I hope the link even works. :(

The fact that nice, church going older black ladies lock stepped for “super predator” labeling Hillary is almost as weird to me as union members who vote for republicans.

He’s too eager to compromise on issues like Women’s body autonomy/right to make own medical decisions, and wants to court the racist vote, or “win those blue collar workers back” ignoring that POC largely work Blue Collar or service industry jobs, also pay rent or morgages and would benefit from support as well.

This is such nonsense. I LOVED Bernie, but considering there was a not-insignificant overlap between Sanders voters and Trump voters, you can’t really count him as a net positive

Agreed. I remember talking to my colleague way back when Sanders was gaining momentum and how she was really excited to have such a populist voice in the conversation. For all the positive Sanders did for making Democrats show their work on progressive policies, he was never going to be the voice of truly

Fucking THANK YOU.

If these Left voters or really any voters needed to be “energized” to vote against Trump they sound like pretty shitty people. You shouldn’t need the world’s greatest candidate as an alternative not to vote for Tango.

Sanders’ inability to change the message he’s been championing for his entire political career highlights the idea that he’s yet another professional politician who’s more interested in extending his career than in fighting for any particular group or cause. His message is still salient, but his unwillingness to pivot

This paragraph still has the stench of CTRL-V on it.

I’m just here for the White Liberal tears. Thank you for doing Black Jesus’s work.
