Yeah, and it said specifically that the motivation was concern about conservative backlash so just made me wonder if that side was worse when it came to fake news. Or if people generally saw it from both sides.

No, this is not about Trending Topics. This is about actual organic sharing of intentionally false news, like Breitbart.

I just knew exactly what was happening at the time. Gizmodo basically said “Hey Breitbart, if you go attack Facebook we got your back.”

It’s right there in the story. Gizmodo broke the news that it was humans who had been suppressing the appearance of information with a conservative bias instead of an algorithm. This made Facebook afraid to curate their content from then on since they had been outed as being anti-conservative.

Every time i think about this election i can’t help but think that Philosophy Professions must have been going out of their minds.

But that is what is happening already, people are sharing whatever they want to share and its complete bullshit that is being passed as credible. I can’t tell you how many completely dumb and inaccurate stories I see on my newsfeed daily.
