The concept of “collective insecurity” is valid, it’s used in political science literature specifically on ethnic conflict to try and identify at risk areas/peoples. It mostly tracks with how people use “racial anxiety” from what I’ve seen. People fear their group is losing prestige, influence, economic position, etc.

I still can’t get over “racial anxiety”. It sounds like some bullshit way to say racism without offending someone (because????), so I looked it up, and I’m still like 95% sure it’s bullshit. Does anyone have an example where it’s not bullshit?

I agree with you on one score: Trump is more dangerous for minorities. Inciting his base is making life physically dangerous for many including black/brown people, immigrants, and Muslims. However, Pence is more dangerous for America. Pence would give NO Fs about rewriting the Constitution. Birthright citizenship=

The racism is obvious, but what it really boils down to is the utter and complete self-loathing and absent confidence of all the Trump supporters. These people are racist morons because they hate themselves and have zero belief in their ability to do so much as walk down the driveway and get mail, let alone take any

I’m in the same boat, but I’m Jewish. My mom taught me the same thing her dad taught her: Jews are only considered white as long as it is beneficial and convenient for white people.

This confirms what my grandmother (RIP) told me when I was younger “Most white folks are so nasty and racist they would rather destroy America than share with us”

I think early on Sex and the City did. Didn’t Carrie meet Big on the street when she dropped her purse after someone ran into her and he helped her pick up her shit which included a bunch of condoms? And I know there was some joking about condoms when Miranda got pregnant (e.g. use a condom!).

LOL. I think we’re gonna be worried about her throughout the series. And now that people have pointed out the lack of condoms, I’m worried that the writers/directors are doing it on purpose and Issa’s going to get pregnant 😬

Yeah, I really didn’t get the impression that Frieda was doing an “all lives matter” thing. We’ve already seen that the principal is very prejudiced toward his Spanish speaking students, and Frieda is rightfully concerned that the principal is not informing the Latino students about “We Got Ya’ll,” even though many of

Nobody is going to posit that condoms were created by the rich to keep our numbers down? Hoteps, where aaaare you????

It takes 10 seconds to put a condom on. If they can show Issa doing the most with her ridiculously awkward sex scenes this season, they can show everyon’e sex partners strapping up. SMH.

I found it especially glaring with the neighbor because they were at his place. They could have had him reach into a nightstand, you know? I’m all for a hoe phase, but wrap it up.

That’s what he says but he was getting real defensive about the fact that people should just assume. Like they don’t throw every other detail of black life in there. If a big part of Insecure is about the mistakes these people make (and keep making), then I’m going to assume that them not showing the condoms for all

Chlamydia is not a happy accident.

But what about herpes, gonorrhea, syphilis, and a bunch of other STDs I can’t spell?

Oh come on. You can’t do that to Freida. She has legit concerns. I’m super afraid that all this will come back to bite Issa in the butt if she doesn’t do something to tell that principal to stop being such a dick.

The first comment thread in this post is a bunch of anti-trans bullshit. So let me say this, fuck all of you who think that trans people are out here “tricking” you. The end.

Word. People need to get free, and let people live their lives as they please. So long as they aren’t hurting anyone, why bug them?

Nice. Short story: When I drove lyft last year I had a rider who was trans. She was very good looking. I originally didn’t know she was trans - her photo was pretty hot, in person without make up she looked more masculine. As an older guy I thought it was a good opportunity to ask questions and so, with her permission

I’m really going to need people to realize that trans women are women that are susceptible to specific types of gendered violence and must be protected. There is no excuse.
