Get a network functional between SF and Yellowstone, SF and Moab, and SF north to Bend, and I’m going to have a really hard time not committing.

Exactly.  I don’t need (or even want) top speed, but having the blood rush from my brain from the acceleration is addictive.  The extremely low CG of a BEV hot hatch and the packaging benefits you could get would be amazing.  Hell, you could even make it RWD without sacrificing usability.  And I bet with recent

Electrify the hot hatch market, immediately.  Get us an R-spec ID3 in the US, please VW?

Totally agree.  If the Oligarch that bought it was smart, he’d go all-in on naming the track after her.

In that price range, options are basically limited to what’s already listed here + eGolf, Focus electric, maybe a Bolt (?), but you’re definitely priced out of Tesla and other brands.

Love the boat/plane analogy - it’s spot on.

Like everywhere, there are great places to live. I’m in one of them - by the beach, semi-rural. But you couldn’t pay me to live in that part of Oakland. couple of miles up in the hills, though, are spectacular.

You can also buy a house across the street for $1.1M.

My company has decided that they won’t spend any more money on office space, and will focus exclusively on factory capacity.  I’m all for it.

Yup. The i3 is polarizing, for sure, but it’s a cohesive design with a purpose.

I really want BMW to succeed here, because the idea of an electric 5-series is super appealing to me and I would like them to make it one day. But good lord, this thing is hideous, and looks like 4 distinctly different cars from various angles - none of them good.

This looks quite nice.  I wonder how it’ll feel inside - the 4-series felt claustrophobic to me, whereas the earlier 3-series had more window area and you could see.  For anyone with children, you understand why this is important, unless you just happen to be someone who enjoys cleaning up vomit.

Everyone in the supply chain needs to make money, and batteries are a major cost driver for EVs. Driving cost out of them is a no-brainer if they want to be competitive. Tesla has proven this out over and over and over again.

Oh man, I completely forgot (suppressed memory?) about the gearing. I changed that out in the first week with a larger rear sprocket vs. a front (and a chain to go with it), and left the jetting the same since a lot of my riding was at elevation.

I probably shouldn’t have sold my 900SS/SP. It was beautiful and sounded amazing.

Calling them gigafactories is stupid, sure, but building your own battery technology and manufacturing capacity is smart. I don’t see the problem.

Agreed - Shelby is likely full of shit, but it’s disingenuous to say “450 Tesla employees have had Covid, therefore there is workplace spread.”

My life is better as well. I love not commuting, get to ride my mountain bike and surf pretty much every day, and have worked from home on and off for a long time. I’ve taught my son to kayak and mountain bike, taught my daughter to drive a manual, and am generally loving life - I think people like us are lucky. I’d
