These things are indestructible, but the demographic that buys one to use off-road, wants an unkillable rig, plans to keep for the 25+ year planned lifecycle, and willing to put up with terrible fuel consumption is vanishingly small. It’ll be sad when it goes, but I can’t blame them.

From a purely practical perspective (I’d need to see dimensions), it looks like you could get bikes, or even a motorcycle, back there with the tailgate down.

What is the target use for this bike? I love the idea of electrifying all the things, but at the end of the day, you’re taking an adventure bike with big touring bags and limiting your excursions dramatically.

I grew up in Nevada, and the sheer vastness of the Big Basin can’t be overstated. There are sections of road out there that you can see for many, many miles across otherwise empty landscape, and it can sometimes be an hour before you see another car - on paved roads, let along backcountry tracks.

Thanks for sharing this, Kevin. Every Lyft driver I spoke with (when I was still traveling for work) had a similar story, but a still-rosy picture about how much they made. Once in particular stood out, not because his story was unique, but because I started actually doing the math while listening.

The clinical trials are 50% placebo. Do you know if they’ll tell you (when the findings are published) whether you received the placebo or actual vaccine?
