I know they aren’t that similar gameplay wise but Breath of the Wild definitely gave the same sense of comfort / escape for me that Genshin does now.

I agree with all of this, my friends specifically bought this game for the co op that was advertised and it’s borderline unplayable. I really hope they can fix it somehow.
