It's 'minimalist' as in minimal labor time required on the assembly line.

As I am one of these: Mostly the former. You pay about $100 or so for certification, nearly always from ServSafe. Manager test is harder than regular testby a significant amount. It’s a hireable thing for a resume, but mostly you want to be sure you’ve got at least one chef or sous chef who has it.

I’ve been watching some very old Motorweek shows and they often comments as far back as the 1980s about the ease (or lack) of the use of radio and temperature controls.

I am 100% on team dial.  I have slider HVAC temp controls on my A7 and it takes me way too long to select the correct temperature after going up and down several degrees each time.
