“Mr. White, I’m afraid it’s advanced cancer. Not to worry, you’ve got your two oncologists ready to go, your chemo starts next Thursday.”

The empty pickle jar on the counter of some rural gas station, with a picture of a local kid ailing from something the family couldn’t afford to treat, was a poignant commonplace long before GoFundMe or the Internet that it sits on. But it keeps getting worse in both extent and bottom line.

As a Canadian, I really notice how much Freedom(tm) America has, so at least you have that! I enjoyed having my wife in a semi-private room after giving birth, follow-up nursing care, and it cost me absolutely nothing. I also enjoyed getting treated at a fracture clinic when I was in a bike accident and, again,

Americans have NO clue how bad their standard of living is. None.

Not just an injury. Giving birth is be prohibitively expensive. Upwards of $10-15,000 to deliver a baby.

In America specifically, it would be nice if people didn’t have to resort to things like this to try to pay medical bills. It’s absolutely criminal that this is an accepted part of life - that one good injury will bankrupt you. The “in network” and “out of network” bullshit needs to stop too, as do the surprise bills

Paul?

Aya Cash is fantastic and I’m already setting myself up for disappointment in hoping she at least gets an Emmy nod for her work on this show.

“who inadvertently reveals why Jimmy may have left her”
I thought the point of this story was that while being some kind of a “shapeshifter” might not be the actual cause of Jimmy leaving, it is something Gretchen fears could be the reason. Although I agree that Jimmy’s fear of intimacy really drove him to run, I think

Dear god, my friend, it’s not hubris. If I had half a say I’d give you back community grades a week ago. This was the move to Kinja; I fucking swear we’re doing our best to improve it with each passing week (and WOW has it gotten better since the initial change), but every suggestion is legit something we try to push

Gretchen standalones are my favorites. The writers can really delve into some emotionally wrought territory, but they never take the easy way out. The cat food scene was the lowest that we’ve seen Gretchen. One note that I liked was that they summoned up Gretchen’s depression and its impact on her adolescence without

Where’s the community grade? The hubris of AV club; half the reason I come is the community grade. When I go to RottenTomatoes I don’t just blindly trust the critics. BRING IT BACK! BRING IT BACK! Come on everyone; BRING IT BACK!

I’m with you. I understand complaints about the twin gimmick, and I usually can’t stand Franco (as a person and an actor), but he’s damned good in this. Doesn’t stop about a dozen other cast members from overshadowing him, but that says more about the phenomenal cast of this show than his performance.

I may stand alone in thinking that Franco is doing a remarkable job. Vince is completely believable as a character, and Frankie may be one dimensional, but is well played.

Is telling them apart really that complicated? I’m finding it remarkably easy, especially since only one of them is actually a major character. We’re five episodes in at this point, and Frankie’s only had like three solo scenes and when he does have a solo scene they provide some tell-tale sign like having him

Chaz is honestly way better at acting than I was expecting.

I agree. If I couldn’t stand a guy i wouldn’t be dating him for three weeks and I certainly wouldn’t be sleeping with him. I think she was more mad at herself than him. Seems she didn’t have the nerve to break it off earlier. If I were him I would have turn the car around and drove her home after what she told him in

Acknowledging the fact that our society is built around white supremacy isn’t promoting it.
