Kinda like the UCSD engineering library - I spent lots of time in that building.

Well, I won't be hooning my rental car if I ever get to Saudi Arabia that's for sure.

This is basically what happens in Germany - in 4th grade the more academic kids go to gymnasium which leads to college, the other portion goes on a trade/apprenticeship path. It's actually not a bad model, Germany has a highly skilled and trained labor force which makes it an industrial powerhouse. There's absolutely

I think the author is a bit unfair to people of the time who were opposed to slavery. Even in the founding generation, there were vocal abolitionists such as Alexander Hamilton, Benjamin Franklin, and John Adams who actively campaigned to end slavery. I don't think it's a stretch that someone of the time would try to

You sure you didn't pull the "I write for Gizmodo" card? Us mere mortals would likely be refused any empathy from the Apple Gods.

We're talking about internet personal ads here...people always misrepresent themselves. "Self-confident" is a euphemism for "obnoxious asshole", "curvy" usually means morbidly obese, and it's not hard to extrapolate that morbidly obese people are likely to be more starved for sex. Just aiming for a bit of levity

I used to loath iTunes, and Winamp had a nice iPod plugin for awhile where you could sync your iPod to your Winamp library. I only stopped using winamp when I bought a Zune which I have to this day.

I've been waiting for my "cable company" to come up with a reasonable solution to my living room for 15 years now. In 2012, I still have the embarrassment that is the Scientific Atlanta user interface. Those software engineers should go to JAIL for being involved with that product - talk about not having any pride

"Women who self-describe as 'curvy' are decidedly more interested in sex, and more self-confident, compared to women who say they are 'skinny,'"

Until carriers offer a per user 4G subscription rather than a per device 4G subscription, I'll only use 4G hotspots anyway. I have too many mobile devices to be paying an individual subscription for all of them.

Anybody else notice in a few scenes where they are sending a message to somewhere with no response? I saw it for the second time yesterday, and noticed that. It seems like they have been trying to communicate with earth, but for some reason are not getting responses.

Lots of comments about how "Microsoft doesn't innovate, they steal ideas, etc etc". But the fact is massive innovation rarely succeeds. What is successful is making a product work is the design and engineering, not massive innovation. This is what Apple is normally good at - the iPhone wasn't a new innovative concept,

Yes, but sometimes it doesn't go immediately to the "all" section. If it launches into the "what's new" or the other sections of the people hub, you have to swipe a few times before you can do a search.

Actually that's not a bad idea, I forgot about that feature. I had some people setup in groups, but my phone got wiped and I never used it again. I also didn't know that you could pin the group to start - that may work, at least for the 20-30 people I call routinely.

More links, please!

Fuck looting, I'd be stealing a submarine somehow, someway. And lots of pallets of Ensure.

Meh, while it would suck to have just purchased a shiny new Nokia 900, 7.8 will last them at least a year, and the main reason you'd upgrade is a better display/PureView camera/NFC anyway. Which means no amount of software updates would keep you on your current platform anyway. I'm holding on to my Trophy until a

I mostly agree with this stuff. What I would really like to see is an efficient way of getting to a contact. Right now, you have to go to the People hub, swipe right a few times to "all", click search, then start pecking out the names. I'd like to see something right from the main tile screen where you can start

The last thing my personal life and career need is inspiration to play Civ again. If I fall off the wagon, nobody will see me for a week, maybe three.

Wonder if Windows RT and WP8 will merge...
