The false comet is recent and different from his past life comet. I assume (here we go :v) that Finn's past life comet was a benevolent one that brought about an ultimately good change. Evergreen did say that the green comet was unusually malicious for a catalyst comet (just "comet" in his words).

Yep. GGGG did not seem bothered by the coloration of what he believed to be the catalyst comet. It may be coincidence, but so far, the comet has aligned with the colors of the elemental in Evergreen, who might themselves symbolize good side of the color spectrum. Who knows. At this point all we can do is wait.
