Back in the day, MTV was broadcasting some of the most creative, irreverent, fun stuff on tv.

I had avoided it for years, noticed it was on Netflix a week or so ago, watched it, regretted that decision.
There was one back-and-forth between Aeon and Trevor which almost had the rhythm of their original banter. Beyond that, there was nothing to distinguish it from any other YA Dystopia of the last decade.

I know deep in my bones that MTV will absolutely mess this up and turn me into an old man yelling at a cloud.

I remember talking about this in philoosphy of psychology class my senior year in college. There were the women who were championing the whole Electra BS, along with the most of guys save one of my best friends in ROTC and a (conservative!!!!) contrarian dude.

Thanks for posting. My Catholic god parents are road tripping through Denver later this month. They’ll probably want to visit this.

without resorting to gendered slurs

So let’s be clear here just a second. 95% of the article has nothing to do with anything. She was held in a specially-created trans holding unit (which may or may not be a good thing depending on what day and whom you ask); she was (according to ICE) suffering from AIDS/HIV-related health complications; she was

Normally I side with the victim but in cases like this where there are serious credibility issues I just go with whichever side shouts the loudest on Kinja.

Swedish law recognises rape in many, many different and complex ways beyond this recent change. This is a simplistic article, research will show you exactly how all encompassing the definition of rape is in Sweden.

Konichiwa, bitches.

a dark, rainy city with bad food

We all have to make sacrifices and scale back during these austere times.

Nope. Transwomen are women but are often not female, and that’s a sticking point for some people

I wonder if these people realize how much they sound like mras.

What complete and utter bullshit. A penis isn’t just a body part. Men have been using them as weapons against us for thousands of fucking years. Women have every right to feel unsafe and uncomfortable around them, especially in a setting like jail or prison.

In my area, some of the women’s restrooms have been changed to “All Gender” while the men’s restrooms are still “Men’s Room” - so transmen ARE peeing next to ciswomen and transwomen, nonbinary, etc. I personally don’t care but other people are pissed.

That’s the thing, they always just say “trans women” now, but that covers an awful lot of ground. If you’re post-op and have gone full girl, then by all means, come share my theoretical jail cell, but if you’re physically male, I don’t care what you identify as, women (including the post-op trans women) should not be

Both sides arguments are a fundamental part of democracy and debate; each side needs to recognise each others’ concerns if they’re to reach a compromise. Can you not see how a transwoman’s fear of violent people with penises in a men’s prison essentially mirror these natal women’s fears of a potentially violent person

Despite what this writer would like us to think, this regulation does a good job of balancing the interests of natal women and trans women. It’s not saying that biological sex is the ONLY criteria, it’s saying that it’s the initial determinant. It goes on to say that having determined by sex, the authorities must then

I hope you know that it’s legal for prisons to divide prisoners up by race as well, because of the prevalence of race-based gang violence.
