Also an autistic woman, and I see the issue in the exact same terms as you do.

In practice, the study of the needs of elderly folks. My ex MiL is a lecturer in gerontological nursing so I know a bit about it :)

Candles everywhere. Seriously. It’s just something you do when it’s as dark as it is here. Every time you switch rooms you put out and light candles.

Don’t let a Swede hear you compare them to danska jävlarna ;)

Bra-fucking-vo.

Merkel is NOT a liberal, in the American sense. She’s a center-right politician, just like Hillary. They’re both European liberals, meaning pro-free market and pro-democracy.

It’s gotten worse, but it was definitely happening since AIM/ICQ were big, because it happened to me in ‘03 when I was in high school. . .

So, I’m American, I met a guy on OKCupid from Sweden... 8 years ago. I currently live with him in Stockholm. So it works out sometimes?

Me too. Goddammit.

We’re bad opinion twins! Elementary is fantastic.

Part of that is very sadly true, part of it has been overblown.

We’re having an interesting conversation over on groupthink on “what is middle class”, and I’m finding out that growing up working class means that in general, my threshold for middle/upper middle/upper class is much lower than people who grew up in a higher class than me.

Basically, the Lean In philosophy and method only benefits people at a certain level of education/class, and because of other discriminatory factors, that means it only can help a very specific set of white women, ie people with similar backgrounds to Sandberg herself.

I’d prefer someone who was actually qualified for the position and didn’t make Hillary look even more out of touch and like a silicon valley insider.

Since income generally increases the higher educational attainment one has, especially in previous generations, I’d say I’m making an educated guess here. Debt levels from education when her parents went to school were much much lower and are incomparable with higher ed now.

She was never middle class. What is it with Americans thinking everyone short of the Kennedys is middle class?

By the way, I love your username!

Bingo.

I feel awful about what happened to her husband, it’s such a tragedy — but if you can’t believe single mothers that life is hard until you actually experience it, you’re just as bad as those men who realise women are people when they have a daughter.
