It's unfair to generalise as precisely as the article - I agree, however there is a plethora of Free to Play games, dating back many years and a lot of them, well, they haven't exactly got a good track record.

'Tim Crisis', I'd play a game with that as the main character.

I think mainly because it's a static image, it looks like one of those point and click adventure games, or rather something along the lines of Adventure Quest.
