Her father is not one of the producers. No idea how that rumor got started but I’ve seen it repeated a ton, despite the fact that it’s easily fact-checkable.

Feldstein was not a producer on the show. (This is easily googleable, and I’m not sure how it became a rumor in the first place. It’s hypothetically possible he was some kind of silent investor, but that would be a minor thing—it wouldn’t give you the power to dictate casting.)
If Depp really did kick her down on a private plane in front of people, can’t she get those people to testify?
The UK trial concluded that 12 of the 14 claims of abuse Heard made against Depp were proven to the civil standard. This case is hearing most of the same evidence. I’m unsure why so many people believe it’s going to conclude differently.
Part of it is that the strategy wasn’t meant to be sustainable. Netflix started out with the vast majority of the early market share, and their decisions were based around flooding the service with enough content (either cheap or high-profile/buzzy) to keep existing viewers from dropping them and attract new ones.…
Passing a law to protect abortion access doesn’t make abortion access magically *not* vulnerable. The Republicans will just repeal it as soon they take control of Congress again. (Beyond that, they’ll probably vote to ban abortion on the federal level—something they’ve done several times over the years when they did…
Yeah, the donations clearly stopped after a) Depp started suing her and b) her film roles dried up because of the fallout from this. She’s been wrapped up in expensive legislation for years, largely because of him—and unlike him, she never had the kind of career or income that would allow her to afford that. There’s…
Industry reporting says the server had credentials, so it’s not a situation where she sneaked in.
Cinemacon isn’t open to the public, though. I feel like a lot of these responses are failing to understand that? It’s a trade show only open to industry and media. The server had a ticket, and unless they fall into the category of “industry or media,” somebody arranged for them to have that ticket. Who was the…
This is true with the standard process server process, but in this case Cinemacon is an event that’s closed to the public. The process server had a ticket. It’s very unlikely (though possible, I guess) they got that ticket anywhere other than from Sudeikis’s lawyers.
Exactly—Depp got the part in Fantastic Beasts after the abuse claims had been made public. He didn’t need to sue anybody. His career would have been fine if that had been the only issue. He just needed to show up and keep working.
Also, whether Heard was abusive or not has no real bearing on the case. Depp is suing her for defamation when she implied that he was abusive in her op-ed; she’s countersuing him for defamation because his lawyers claimed to the press that she was faking being an abuse victim during the UK court case. That means both…
Woody Allen has never been an Academy member (of his own choice, although I doubt they’re extending him invitations anymore at this point).
Yeah, it was inevitable that the producers/production companies would be sued, and I’m sure they’ll end up settling for some amount of money. It feels unlikely the “Baldwin fired the gun” argument is going to get a lot of traction unless new evidence emerges—the last origin story I heard for the bullet was that the…
Disney already has a similar program—Dollywood’s parent company is just offering this to play catch-up.
When you say her new stuff is so “overproduced” compared to her older stuff, what are you referring to? I can see this argument around the time Reputation was released, but her two most recent albums are folk-adjacent and significantly less “produced”-sounding than anything she’s done since ... at least Fearless.
Damon Albarn knows all about this trope, too, because when he was dating Justine Frischmann of Elastica, she was subject to the same dumb conspiracy theories about him writing her lyrics, too.
When Albarn says “co-writing” there, he isn’t talking about songwriters writing a song collaboratively with both participants providing genuine contributions. He himself does that all the time; he compliments Billie Eilish and Finneas for doing that in the same paragraph. What he means by “co-writing” is the age-old…
Yeah, there’s no way to effectively recast something like this without refilming the entire thing. Which they obviously aren’t going to do on a movie that likely had an $100Mish budget.
There have been lots of rumors over the years that his on-set behavior is terrible. Zoe Lister-Jones up there depicts him openly drinking on set and harassing women, and given all the other industry gossip about him, I’d bet that’s hardly an isolated incident. But they put up with it because SATC made him a big enough…
