Both.

Holy crap, I'm not totally against public assistance for healthcare. But there are differences between things that are honest to god "rights" and things that are just services provided by the government. Access to healthcare is a right. At what level the government should shoulder the burden of costs for healthcare

That's why I prefaced with "financially". It's financially foolish to spend millions on surgeries for a worker who will never come close to adding that much to the economy as an active worker, especially if that worker can be provided for much cheaper through disability welfare programs etc. Simple. If you want to

Fire protection, public schools, and the mail service are not basic rights and a necessity to foster human "liberty". There are areas of the United States where those services are not provided.

We could do all that for a while, absolutely. Until the economy collapses, half the population dies and the survivors go back to a subsistence farming society. But probably about five to six years of your thing would be pretty cool.

I was responding to a point of view that was already to the extreme: "people aren't truly free unless the government pays the cost of healthcare etc! It's guaranteed in the constitution! Twice!" That's not a statement about reasonable regulation and cost management.

I mean at no cost to the user at the point of usage.

That equivalence would be the government should purchase and issue every citizen a gun. That is also stupid.

Well, good luck with that.

If a person has a legitimate reason they can't provide for themselves, which may be physical, economical, whatever, I have no problem with the programs that help those people. I honestly doubt you're ok with the idea that everyone, no matter their situation, should just have everything they need paid for by the

I agree you have the human right to access quality healthcare. I believe you have the human right to access quality housing and food. I'm pretty sure we both believe we aren't responsible for paying for the provision of those necessities to people who are capable of providing for themselves, and that your "freedom"

Financially, it depends on the value that worker might add to the workforce.

The guy said "does one really enjoy liberty when one is trapped by the costs of healthcare?" Same could be said about the cost of food, housing etc. Granted it is in our community interest to provide for those who can't afford those essentials, but we currently do the same for healthcare, even did before the ACA.

Meh, that's not really a good way to look at it. Basically you're arguing the government is responsible for providing you all the basic essentials of life at no cost. That's stupid. Sorry.

And the founder of the Mongol Empire.

Andrew Jackson never got sick.

You need to use the landmines on the tank.

Yeah, but we got M.A.S.H. out of the first Korean War, so.

Do you really want to go back to the boring-ass days when all the POTUS talked about was "facts" or "generally accepted reality"?

They didn't say shit about the roof though.
