I sincerely doubt he was drinking when transplanted. My guess is that he stopped when told he would die.

No transplant center would transplant an active alcoholic.

I do kidney recipients and liver donors. The whole process is beyond intense and it’s a difficult decision. The plus side for Melnyk is that he still qualifies as healthy enough for a live donor. Not every liver recipient has that option

I’m a transplant social worker that evaluates live donor liver patients (and sometimes recipients as well). Making this case public is important. But soliciting donors in such a public way can be far more detrimental.

I'm not anti this app. I'm just very jaded. I've seen countless people who have trouble navigating all of these systems. I just worry that relying on this singular app for savings won't end up solving every issue out there with medications.

Most drug manufacturers have programs available for people unable to afford meds.

Both Target and Walmart have $4/$10 generics for 30/99 days respectively. You're not going to do much better than that.
