I kind of wonder if she did that on purpose, though? Having that kind of public persona would be very limiting to someone building a career as an experimental performance artist. It seems like she wants to pursue more of a 21st century Tracy Emin thing rather than be stuck being the Voice of a Generation.

I think people are choosing really exaggerated examples of messages they wouldn’t support. A better example would be if the cake said “Vote Johnson For Mayor.” It’s my personal feeling that if I, as a baker, didn’t support Johnson, I would be within my rights to refuse to make a cake supporting him.

I don’t get this comment. The sexual rights women have fought for include access to birth control, the right to divorce and remarry, the right to not be raped or harassed without legal recourse, the right to not be judged for having multiple sexual partners, and of course the right to be other than heterosexual…

It seems like she’s out of touch with just how tough the academic job market is these days. That person’s word could easily be the difference between getting a tenure-track position and being stuck as an adjunct not making a living wage.
