I think it’s shitty to involve someone else in your rule-breaking when the greater burden of risk is on them. Attempting to force a service employee to break a rule puts them between a rock and a hard place — piss off a customer and risk their job, or break the rule and still risk their job — and is therefore shitty.
On the other end of the spectrum, after a relative of mine committed suicide by suffocation, the police who came to the scene reported that her apartment was the cleanest crime scene they’d ever been called to. That stuck with me.
