Power tripping. Fooling someone makes them feel powerful - they are the smart, manipulative ones, their victims are fools. They are in control of the situation. It’s a cruel form of trolling, gratifying for much the same reasons harassing people online generally is.

If those pictures were a success 50 years ago, then why does the President have to have a town hall on race relations in 2016? And why are minorities still targeted by law enforcement albeit not with dogs and hoses but more innovative means?

It’s also super easy for privileged white guys to be “rational” and “unemotional” because the things they’re talking about rarely even affect them in real life. When women and POC talk about social issues that truly impact their lives, how can you expect them to divorce emotion from that completely?

Yep, this was my family. I would finally hit a tipping point on the family sexism scale and lose my shit, and my parents and brother would be astonished at my upsetting tone and behavior. Why did I have to create arguments and upset everyone!?

Exactly, when women, especially women of colour are angry and refuse to be silent, they’re often labeled as belligerent or hysterical where a man would be called passionate or forceful. Erica Garner has nothing to apologize for.

But when applied in reality, it’s only white guys that can effectively do this because an audience is more inclined to listen to them whatever they say.

Ran 9.3 miles this week and went to yoga twice, which was not bad considering all the other crap I was dealing with.

Went to the dentist to get my teeth cleaned for the first time in four years on Monday and had zero cavities! Plus the dentil hygienist heaped high praise upon my gums, which are apparently quite perfect. So, that was cool (especially since I really couldn’t have afforded to fix anything that was wrong...)

Anybody go on some fun outdoor adventures this week? It was hot as hell but so enjoyable to get some sunshine and water fun.
